Dining
All meals aboard are prepared by local chefs under the guidance of our European management team. Meals are open seating during set meal times—no table reservations are accepted. Room service is not available. Guests requiring special diets such as vegetarian, low salt, diabetic or low cholesterol meals must alert Viking River Cruises one month prior to departure and inform the Maitre d’ when on board. The chefs will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these requests.
Age Restrictions
Due to the nature of their cruise itineraries, Viking River Cruises does not maintain facilities or services for children aboard river cruise vessels. On all cruises and cruise journeys, minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied and share a cabin with a parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult over the age of 21. The restaurant seats 189 guests at tables which vary in size to accommodate larger or smaller parties. The dining room is open seating, so you are free to sit where you like a great way to make new friends. The atmosphere is casual but elegant, with high-quality table linens, china, cutlery and glassware. Located on the Middle Deck.
Library
The library has comfortable seating and excellent reading light. Carries approximately 100 books, in various languages but mostly English, and several games such as chess, backgammon and playing cards. Located on the Upper Deck.
Observation Lounge
The observation lounge is a terrific place to meet friends before and after meals. It boasts a large sitting area with chairs, small tables, sofas and a bar area. The lounge has a projector and screen installed in the ceiling, so slides can be shown, and there is a stereo system and dance floor. Located on the Upper Deck.
Sun Deck
Enjoy sunshine and fresh air while you take in 360-degree views of the scenery as you sail past castles, towns, villages and vineyards. Stand at the railings or relax in a comfortable deck chair. Some of the seating has a canopy for those who prefer shade.The crew and staff are the best people you will ever meet! This was definitely our trip of a lifetime! The Viking Sun was an absolutely amazing way to travel. While on board I had an abscessed tooth and the concierge made the best arrangements for me to get it taken care of! We were both so thankful for their concern and help! The cruise was relaxing and the food was amazing! We\'d do a river cruise again in a heartbeat if we had the money to go again!!
