Day 1: Depart home gateway city to Beijing
Day 2: Beijing Featured Excursion: Arrive in Beijing and be greeted by a Uniworld representative who will escort you to your hotel.
Day 3: Beijing Start your day in Tiananmen Square-the heart of Beijing-before visiting the Forbidden City, the largest and most complete ancient imperial palace in the world. Then continue on to the Summer Palace. Top off your fabulous day with an authentic Peking Duck dinner. Day 4: Beijing Visit the sites of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and then walk along China's Great Wall-a UNESCO World Heritage Site and truly one of the man-made wonders of the world. On your way back to Beijing, travel the Sacred Way, home to the remnants of the Ming Tombs. End your day with a magnificent Beijing Opera performance. Day 5: Beijing, fly to Xi'an Ride in a traditional rickshaw for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hutongs-the ancient alleyways of the old residential area of Beijing-and enjoy lunch with a local family. Day 6: Xi'an Xi'an is the site of one of the 20th-century's biggest archaeological finds-the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses-which you'll visit along with Xi'an's ancient City Wall. Day 7: Xi'an, fly to Chongqing, cruising the Yangtze River Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an ancient holy place for Buddhists. Then fly to Chongqing, where you'll stop for a glimpse of the giant pandas at the city's zoo before boarding an elegant Victoria Cruises ship to begin your journey down the Yangtze. Day 8: Cruising the Yangtze River Then visit either the “Ghost City” of Fengdu or the new relocation village for families who have moved as a result of the Three Gorges Dam. Day 11: Shanghai Visit Old Town, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, and Old Shanghai Museum on your Shanghai city tour.
