DAY 1 DEPART USA Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
DAY 2 ARRIVE IN MUNICH - PASSAU, GERMANY Welcome to Munich! Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the ship. The rest of the day is free. (D)
DAY 3 PASSAU, GERMANY Take a guided walk through the medieval section of Passau and past St. Stephan's Cathedral, home to Europe's largest pipe organ. Later, return to St. Stephan's for an organ concert (the organ concert is not available on Sundays, Catholic holidays or in Mar, Apr or Nov.) This evening, the Captain hosts a Welcome Dinner on board. (B,L,D)
DAY 4 LINZ / SALZBURG EXCURSION Disembark in Linz and board a motorcoach for a visit to Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the setting for the film The Sound of Music. After your guided tour and some free time, return to the ship. (B,D)
DAY 5 DURNSTEIN / CRUISING THE WACHAU VALLEY / MELK Visit the village of Dürnstein, with its beautiful Stiftskirche. Then cruise through the heart of the Wachau Valley, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. Stop in Melk and take a tour of the splendid Benedictine Abbey. (B,L,D)
DAY 6 VIENNA, AUSTRIA A tour in Vienna travels along the stately Ringstrasse, the broad thoroughfare lined with imperial buildings and monuments. See St. Stephen's Cathedral, where Mozart was married in 1782, and Mozarthaus, where the famous composer lived and wrote The Marriage of Figaro. (B,L,D)
DAY 7 BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA A tour through Bratislava highlights the town's eclectic mix of Gothic, Baroque and Art Deco architecture. Nicknamed the “Coronation City of Kings,” the sidewalks have golden crowns embedded in the pavement to identify the route of the coronation procession of eleven kings over the centuries. See Old Freedom Square, Grassalkovich Palais, Bratislava Castle, Michael's Gate, Mirbach Palace and Primatial Palace. (B,L,D)
DAY 8 BUDAPEST Budapest is an enchanting city with a vibrant mix of East and West, medieval and modern. Made up of hilly Buda, flat Pest and ancient Obuda, it straddles the Danube River. A city tour features the Chain Bridge, the early 19th century bridge that was the first to connect Buda with Pest, the UNESCO listed Castle Hill district, and the 19th century Fisherman's Bastion with dramatic vistas of the city. Tonight the captain hosts a Farewell Dinner. (B,L,D)
DAY 9 DEPART BUDAPEST, HUNGARY Disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for your flight leaving no earlier than 10 a.m. (CB) |
