Day 2 - Paris / Versailles Discover the vision and artistry of Louis XIV and his architects on your escorted tour through the gardens and grand halls of Versailles, including the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors - recently reopened after painstaking restoration work. Return to ship for lunch before afternoon sightseeing in Paris. You'll drive along grand boulevards and through charming squares to see the city's best loved landmarks, including Notre Dame Cathedral, Opera de la Bastille, Place de la Concorde, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees and the Eiffel Tower. Day 3 - Les Andelys Today you visit Château Gaillard, an impressive 12th century castle built by the legendary king, Richard the Lionheart. Day 4 - Normandy Landing Beaches Our specially arranged full-day excursion explores the historic and heroic events that unfolded 65 years ago along the Norman coast. Limited to just 20 passengers, this in-depth sightseeing tour promises an intimate and enriching experience. Your first visit, to the Caen Memorial Museum, offers remarkable documentation of D-Day and a stirring introduction to the WWII Sites you'll visit today. After a stop for lunch, your escorted tour continues to the historic Landing Beaches of Normandy. Day 5 - Caudebec-en-Caux The charming riverside town of Caudebec-en-Caux is home to the impressive 15th century Church of Notre Dame. Day 6 - Rouen Your walking tour begins atop St. Catherine Hill, for views over Rouen and its many Gothic spires. Continue through the Old Town to the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Rouen, one of the most magnificent late Gothic churches in France, captured in numerous paintings by Claude Monet. Venturing inside, you'll be delighted by the beautiful stained glass windows. Your walking tour continues past the 15th century St. Maclou Church with its most impressive facade and along picturesque half-timbered houses to the old market square, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1432. Day 7 - Giverny Visit the enchanting home and fabulous gardens of the great French Impressionist Claude Monet. As you stroll among the beautiful plants and flowers, and around the carefully landscaped pond, you'll certainly recognize the inspiration for many of Monet's paintings, including his famous series of water lilies.
