DAY 2 ARRIVE IN BASEL, SWITZERLAND

DAY 3 BREISACH, GERMANY / STRASBOURG, FRANCE
From medieval Breisach, cross the Rhine and head for a full day touring along the Alsatian wine road, which hugs the foothills of the Vosges mountains. Lush vineyards producing great white wines line this winding route. Stop in the charming town of Colmar and the picturesque village of Riquewihr en route to Strasbourg. (B,D)
DAY 4 STRASBOURG
Visit ancient Strasbourg. Here, a canal cruise shows you the city's covered bridges, medieval watchtowers, the European Parliament building and Petite France, a picturesque district that seems as if it has been lifted from the pages of a fairy tale. DAY 5 SPEYER, GERMANY
On a walking tour, see the Romanesque Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This was the burial place for German emperors for nearly 300 years. (B,L,D)
DAY 6 RUDESHEIM
Rudesheim has a history dating back to Roman times. The morning is free here to explore on your own. In the afternoon, visit stately Castle Vollrads, surrounded by vineyards that produce the famous Rheingau Rieslings, and sample some of the excellent vintage. (B,L,D)
DAY 7 CRUISING THE ROMANTIC RHINE / KOBLENZ
Sail along one of the most beautiful sections of the Rhine River Valley, with its vine-covered slopes and the famous Lorelei Rock. Arrive in Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. A walking tour highlights the narrow streets and historic squares, the alleyways and fountains in the old quarter and the venerable 12th century churches of St. Florin and Our Lady. (B,L,D)
DAY 8 COLOGNE
Stroll through the narrow streets of Old Town Cologne on the way to the cathedral, the city's most famous landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A visit features the Shrine of the Three Magi and the beautiful glass windows that survived World War II. Tonight the captain hosts a Farewell Dinner. (B,L,D)
