Viking Schumann
Viking Schumann is a small intimate river cruise vessel with an unusually shallow 80 cm draft, meaning the bottom of the ship is very flat, and has pump jets that minimize the impact of potentially low water levels. These vessels are perfect for the Elbe River, which is very shallow. Dining
All meals aboard are prepared by local chefs under the guidance of our European management team. Meals are open seating during set meal times—no table reservations are accepted. Room service is not available. Guests requiring special diets such as vegetarian, low salt, diabetic or low cholesterol meals must alert Viking River Cruises one month prior to departure and inform the Maitre d’ when on board. The chefs will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these requests.
Age Restrictions
Due to the nature of the cruise itineraries, Viking River Cruises does not maintain facilities or services for children aboard river cruise vessels. On all cruises and cruise journeys, minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied and share a cabin with a parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult over the age of 21. Viking river cruises reserves the right to limit the number of minors under the age of 18 years on board.
Tipping
It is customary to give cruise gratuities, subject to your satisfaction of services rendered. Gratuities on board and on land are not included in your tour price.

Restaurant
The restaurant seats all guests at 24 tables which vary in size, accommodating 4, 6 or 8 guests per table. The dining room is open seating, so you are free to sit where you like a great way to make new friends. The atmosphere is casual but elegant, with high-quality table linens, china, cutlery and glassware. Located on the Middle Deck.
Gift Shop
There is a gift shop onboard with a limited selection of toiletries, souvenirs, and other sundries. Located on the Upper Deck.
Library
The library carries approximately 80 books, in various languages but mostly English, and several games such as chess, backgammon and playing cards. Located on the Upper Deck.
Observation Lounge
The observation lounge features panoramic windows surround a large sitting area with chairs, small tables and a bar area with 24-hour tea and coffee station. The lounge has a projector and screen installed in the ceiling and there is a stereo system and dance floor. Located on the Upper Deck.
The Viking Schumann was old, but was clean and moved quietly on the Elba. The staff was excellent and made the trip enjoyable for all the passengers.
