What is a river cruise?
River Cruises consist of leisurely style cruising through some of the worlds most amazing rivers, such as the Rhine, Moselle, Danube, Rhone, Elbe, Po, Seine and the Yangtze. You have the opportunity to visit amazing ports with the intimate setting that only river cruises can offer.  Each ship carries an average of 150 passengers and have a dedicated crew and cruise directors that are available at all times.  River cruises have the advantage of docking in the city centers.  This allows you the opportunity to discover the cities on the included shore excursions or on your own.  Most river cruise operators include all meals, shore excursions with knowledgeable guides and entertainment. All Cabins are spacious and cozy.  Just sit back and enjoy the comforts that only River Cruises can offer.

Do I need a visa or passport?
You must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date that you travel.  You must also have any necessary visas before you depart. It is advisable that you carry a copy of all of your documents (e.g., first page of passport, photo, list of credit card numbers) separate from the originals, in case they are lost or stolen.

Do I need to reserve my dining room seating and times?
Most ships offer only one open sitting for all passengers.  Normally there are no seating arrangements or restrictions. Please verify with your travel agent before traveling.  All restaurants are non-smoking.

Are special meals available onboard?
In some cases you have the opportunity to have a special meal prepared for you.  However, you must let the chef know beforehand.

Are there opportunities to dine ashore?
Most of the meals will be served onboard, but in some cases you will have the option of venturing on your own.  You might consider asking the Captain or your tour guide for special dining locations.

Is smoking allowed onboard?
All ships are non-smoking.  However, most river cruises will permit you to smoke outside on the deck.

Do cabins have private bathrooms?
Every cabin onboard consists of a private bathroom with shower. Some suites include bathtubs.

Are there exercise facilities onboard?
Most of the river cruises have an onboard fitness facility. Please verify with your travel agent before traveling.

Is there internet access onboard?
Most ships have available internet access. Please verify with your travel agent before traveling.

Is there medical personnel onboard?
There is a crew member trained in first aid aboard the ship at all times.  In case of emergencies medical personnel will be made available.

What kind of money do I need for shopping ashore?
Most large store departments accept credit cards.  However, local vendors and small stores usually do not.  It is always a good idea to carry some cash to exchange onshore.

When is the best time to go barging?
The high season for river cruises is usually from April through October.  The off season is considered in early April and mid to late October.

Will I get seasick?
There is never the possibility of becoming sea sick because the rivers and canals have are not tidal.
